Still One in a Million: TWICE Delivers an Electrifying Four Nights in LA

Wrapping up four unforgettable nights in Los Angeles, TWICE performed at the famed Kia Forum as part of their This Is For World Tour. Despite originally announcing just one day, the girl group’s unrivaled popularity called for not just one additional show, but three. The concert consisted of a setlist that spotlighted the group as a whole, but also each of the nine individual members that make up TWICE. The energy was near palpable all throughout the evening, and all nine members had their moments to shine.

The show started off as upbeat as could be, with “THIS IS FOR,” “Strategy,” “MAKE ME GO,” and “SET ME FREE.” This four-part combo of songs set the tone for the night; fans were in for a fierce display of confidence and show-stopping performances. Continuing on with some older but classic songs, the group continued with tracks like “I CAN’T STOP ME” and “MOONLIGHT SUNRISE,” before Act I came to a close. This first portion of the show was simply electric—the energy was high, the choreography was on point, the high notes and harmonies were strong and well-supported, and the smiles on the members’ faces were bright and glowing. The nine members of TWICE not only exuded confidence as they sang song after song, they also exuded pure gratitude and happiness to share the stage together in front of their fans.

Act II started off with slower songs, though that didn’t mean the group lacked energy or stage presence. “I GOT YOU” in particular elicited squeals of excitement from the crowd, as fans sang along to the meaningful lyrics. A few fans that dotted the crowd  could even be seen wiping tears, emphasizing TWICE’s ability to elicit emotional reactions from their fans and showcasing the bond they have. The emotional moment didn’t last forever, however, as the girl group launched right into their first ever English track, “The Feels,” iconic song “CRY FOR ME,” and fan-favorites, “HELL IN HEAVEN” and “RIGHT HAND GIRL.” For “RIGHT HAND GIRL” in particular, fans were particularly enthralled as the members spread out across their 360-degree format stage to give every fan a great view. The girls executed the energetic choreography with ease, and JIHYO in particular garnered never-ending loud cheers.

While the show thus far was focused on the group as a whole, Act III allowed fans to see each member’s individual color with their solo stages. Youngest Tzuyu kicked off the solos with “DIVE IN,” showing off her laid-back confidence as she commanded the stage. Despite the first few years of TWICE’s career branding her as more of a lackluster performer than her members, she certainly proved those doubtful of her abilities wrong with her charisma on stage, steady and sweet vocals, and sharp dance moves. Next up was Mina, with her solo song “STONE COLD.” While her solo stages in previous years were focused more on her sensual dance moves and aura, this track was all precision and emotion, carrying her hauntingly elegant beauty through in a way their group songs aren’t able to. Oldest member Nayeon was next, with her bright track “MEEEEEE.” Her stage was bold and mature, yet still held a youthful playfulness that embodied Nayeon.

Continuing on with what may be the group’s most unexpected, versatile solo track, Jeongyeon was next with “Fix a Drink.” The country-inspired track was catchy, and fans thoroughly enjoyed the song as Jeongyeon strutted and danced along the stage with a confidence that was refreshing to see. Even despite her ankle injury, Dahyun was up next with “CHESS.” Bringing out a sparkly keyboard, she sang with energy and fervor, so much so that you would never be able to tell she wasn’t at her 100% if you didn’t already know. Chaeyoung was the next member up, performing her solo “SHOOT (Firecracker).” Known for her quirky, edgy persona, her performance was creative, pushing boundaries, and giving fans a glimpse of a completely different side of her.

Unsurprisingly, leader Jihyo’s stage with “ATM” was also incredibly well-received. With her abs on full display, her strong shouts that listeners were addicted to her were completely validated as fans cheered and screamed along. Always sugary sweet, Sana was next with her track “DECAFFEINATED.” The song matched her aura and stage presence perfectly, with a mature yet cute atmosphere that only Sana could pull off. Finally, rounding out the set of unique solo stages was Momo, TWICE’s resident main dancer. Her performance of “MOVE LIKE THAT” was Momo personified—strong and full of fierce energy, yet playful and feminine. Not wanting the special stages to end just yet, Jeongyeon, Jihyo, and Chaeyoung also came together to give fans an unforgettable stage with “TAKEDOWN,” from the award-winning Netflix film, K-Pop Demon Hunters. Sealing the Honmoon themselves, the stage garnered explosive cheers from the crowd.

Now finished with Act III of the show, ACT IV was up next, and explored some of the group’s biggest and most timeless hits. This set was all high energy and choreography, giving fans a final burst of power before the show came to an end. This section kicked off with the group’s ultimate girl crush track “FANCY,” followed by the sweet sounds of “What is Love?,” before moving into their playful song “YES or YES.” Though it’s still January, the group then transported the crowd to summertime with “Dance the Night Away,” before wrapping up the concert’s main setlist with a fiery, sparkling performance of “ONE SPARK.”

No show is complete without an encore, especially when it comes to a TWICE show. The encore began with “Feel Special,” followed by a special video project prepared for the group by fans. The group then asked the crowd which song to sing next, to which fans excitedly chose “Talk That Talk,” and finally, “TWICE Song.”

With those final encore songs, the LA stops on TWICE’s tour officially came to an end. Despite debuting over ten years ago, the girl group still exuded a fresh energy that made for an unforgettable night. With bright aura and bright smiles, the group thanked the venue full of fans for a wonderful night, and all that was left was confetti bunched on the ground, an infinite amount of fancams, and memories to last until the next tour.
