Written by: Keyali Mikaela
We’re in the final stretch of our holiday countdown, and today, we’re catching up with bodie! Whether it’s crafting songs in the most unexpected places, finding meaning in the year’s biggest lessons, or dreaming about holiday dinners with iconic guests, bodie never fails to keep things real and relatable.
From his love of minimalist vibes at home (unless his wife has other plans!) to the deeper stories behind his proudest songs, bodie gives us a glimpse into his world—complete with a quirky sense of humor and heartfelt reflections. As a creative force who’s clearly happy to be here, his journey has been full of growth, laughter, and a little bit of holiday magic.
So grab a cup of hot cocoa, settle in, and let’s see what bodie has to share today!
NW: What's the weirdest thing that’s inspired a song?
bodie: I wrote a song about not being able to grow a mustache... It has since been scrubbed from the planet.
NW: Who’s an artist you've recently discovered?
bodie: Been loving Sueco's new stuff. Aries as well.
NW: What’s the biggest thing you learned about yourself this year?
bodie: Your capacity is determined by your spiritual and physical health. You can do a lot more than you think.
NW: What's the strangest place you've ever written or recorded music?
bodie: From the various closets, bedrooms, and outdoor setups, the one that takes the cake is a public restroom in Phoenix, AZ.
NW: If you could collab with any artist right now, who would it be?
bodie: Dominic Fike or Benson Boone.
NW: What was your most-played song this year?
bodie: Monday Morning Faith (Acoustic Version) - SEU Worship.
NW: Do you have a favorite fan interaction from this year?
bodie: Favorite interaction: I met a 4-year-old fan that didn’t leave my arms for about 15 minutes 🥹. My LEAST favorite was the ungodly amount of shoes that I autographed while on tour...
NW: What's a lyric from another artist that hits you hard every time?
bodie: When Snoop Dogg says, "Uh! I'm a nice dude, with some nice dreams. See these ice cubes, see these ice creams" ... I tear up every time.
NW: What song of yours do you feel proudest of?
bodie: Each of my 5 songs off my recent EP HAPPY TO BE HERE hold such special memories as to where and why I wrote them...
But right now, I’d have to say I’m most proud of my songs whisper and the wind and RIP. whisper is my first song to get ample radio play, and the story that the song is telling really means a lot to me. RIP was the first song I wrote in Nashville while visiting my (now) record label. Both songs are continuing to make an impact and bring hope and encouragement to people all over the world.
NW: Who’s the most unexpected artist on your playlist right now?
bodie: Norah Jones.
NW: Do you have a favorite holiday movie?
bodie: There’s a few contenders, but Elf is definitely a go-to for the fam.
NW: Are you more of a ‘decorate everything’ or ‘less is more’ type of person?
bodie: My wife LOVES to decorate for Christmas, so I usually go with whatever she says. But I’m usually more of a minimalist when it comes to home vibes.
NW: What's the coolest holiday decoration you've ever seen?
bodie: A giant snow globe that actually had falling snow inside—complete with a little holiday village!
NW: Is there a city you’d love to spend the holidays in?
bodie: London or Tokyo!
NW: If you could invite any musician to your holiday dinner, who would it be?
bodie: Post Malone... hands down.
