KATSEYE Shines at DFW: Highlights from Their Beautiful Chaos Tour
KATSEYE made their second stop in the DFW since last year’s Jingle Ball to thousands of eager fans in Irving. For their first-ever tour, the ladies of the girl group (formed on the series Dream Academy) sang and danced to their viral hits while scores of fans sang along.
As the group was illuminated on stage for their first song of the night, “Debut”, the fans turned their screams and cheers up to a deafening level. The group, composed of members Manon, Sophia, Daniela, Lara, Megan and Yoonchae, came in full-force and delivered a heart-pounding performance of one of their first singles. Their choreography was completely in sync while audience members mimed the familiar dance moves from their seats. This continued through the night, with earworms such as “Gameboy” and “Internet Girl.” The latter, an unreleased song, impressed members of the group as they saw fans singing and dancing along to a song that has yet to hit streaming platforms. A standout of the first act was their recently Grammy Award Nominated song “Gabriela”. The performance was complete with full audience participation including synchronized lightstick displays, a full team of backup dancers, and an elaborate dance break with costume changes.
On stage, the group and their dancers played with large set pieces that elevated the performance, literally and figuratively. They glided up and down platform stairs with ease that in turn added a lively aspect to the show. The group included a medley of songs from their time Dream Academy and recognized fans that have been with them since the beginning. They also shouted-out newer fans, encouraging everyone to make friends with each other and bond over their shared interest (KATSEYE!).
Another standout of the night was “Gnarly”, co-written by Alice Longyu Gao. This fiery song was met with a sparkly outfit change and the most intense and demanding choreo. The group members made their places and navigated the added dancers to sing a powerful rendition of the hyperpop mega-hit. The roar of the crowd was an obvious sign the group pleased the fans, bringing to life a song most EYEKONS will only experience through a screen.
Halfway through their Beautiful Chaos Tour, KATSEYE engaged audience members to dance, sing along and express themselves through music. The night was full of movement and excitement, making it easy to join in and become part of the experience. Also nominated for a Best New Artist Grammy, this up-and-coming sextet have set a foundation of catchy music, stellar performances and loyal fans that will guide them to new levels of stardom.
