KCON LA 2026 Turns Downtown Los Angeles into a Celebration of K-Culture

For three days, Downtown Los Angeles became a little piece of Seoul as KCON LA 2026 brought together K-pop, K-beauty, Korean food, entertainment, fashion and fandom for its annual celebration of Hallyu. Held August 14–16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center and Crypto.com Arena, this year’s festival was an experience where fans could spend an entire day immersed in Korean culture before ending the night with some of K-pop’s biggest names.

Under the theme “Walk in SOUL CITY,” KCON LA encouraged fans to explore the convention as if they were navigating a city of their own, collecting experiences and creating their own “SOUL MAP.” That concept was particularly fitting for a festival that increasingly feels less like a convention attached to a concert and more like a full-scale cultural festival.

The Los Angeles Convention Center’s Festival Grounds opened each morning to a steady stream of fans, many arriving hours before the day’s programming began. Inside, the convention floor was filled with brand activations, food, beauty experiences, artist appearances, merchandise, dance programming, and multiple stages, while Crypto.com Arena served as the destination each evening for the M COUNTDOWN concerts.

OLIVE YOUNG FESTA Makes Its U.S. Debut

One of the biggest additions to this year’s Festival Grounds was OLIVE YOUNG FESTA LA, which made its U.S. debut as part of KCON LA.

The first American edition of the K-beauty festival transformed a large portion of the convention floor into a miniature beauty playground inspired by four Seoul neighborhoods: Seongsu, Gangnam, Hongdae, and Myeongdong. With 55 Korean beauty and lifestyle brands represented, the experience went far beyond simply browsing products.

At the center was an OLIVE YOUNG store-style space where fans could shop a curated selection of products, while surrounding areas encouraged attendees to actually experience the products before buying them. Skincare, makeup, personal care, and wellness brands offered samples, interactive activities and giveaways throughout the space.

The personalized beauty services were another major draw. Fans could participate in SKIN SCAN, receive personal color analysis and speak one-on-one with OLIVE YOUNG’s K-Beauty Geniuses for recommendations based on their individual needs.

For fans willing to explore the entire area, the Stamp Rally provided another incentive. Completing the required zones and visiting participating brand booths could earn attendees a goodie bag containing full-size K-beauty products, and guests could also pick up a limited-edition FESTA tote at check-in.

The OLIVE YOUNG FESTA ♥ ALPHA DRIVE ONE Zone was particularly popular with fans of the rookie group, who could see displays featuring the members and their favorite K-beauty products. The group also had a prominent presence throughout the weekend, eventually taking the Festival Grounds stage before appearing at the arena later that evening.

KCON’s Festival Grounds

KCON LA continued its expansion into K-Lifestyle with dedicated K-FOOD and K-STORY zones, giving attendees opportunities to explore Korean entertainment and cuisine alongside the music-focused programming. The K-STORY ZONE focused on Korean dramas and film, while the K-FOOD ZONE brought Korean dishes and food culture into the center of the festival.

The convention’s broader philosophy was clear: KCON is no longer only about introducing American audiences to K-pop only. It is increasingly about showing how music exists alongside the food, beauty, fashion, entertainment, and everyday lifestyle that surround Korean culture.

Artist Stages for the Fans

While the Festival Grounds offered plenty to explore, the convention’s stages remained one of its biggest attractions.

The ARTIST STAGE by OLIVE YOUNG FESTA offered a more intimate alternative to the arena concerts, allowing fans to see artists in a closer setting. Friday featured TREASURE, KickFlip and &TEAM, while Saturday included ILLIT and YEONJUN, and Sunday brought ALPHA DRIVE ONE and JO1.

The format helped create some of KCON’s most personal moments of the weekend. Instead of watching artists from the opposite end of an arena, fans were able to see them interact with audiences at a much closer distance, with the programming leaning into the fan-meeting and engagement side of KCON.

The return of DREAM STAGE added another layer to the fan experience. NCT 127, ILLIT and TOMORROW X TOGETHER each participated in the signature program, which gives selected fans the opportunity to perform alongside their favorite artists.

For fans, those moments are often just as memorable as the headline performances themselves.

Toyota Music Den Stage Spotlights Rising Artists

Formerly known as the X STAGE, the Toyota Music Den Stage provided a platform for newer and emerging acts.

The stage was designed to be part showcase and part discovery experience, with performances taking place directly within the convention environment. This year’s lineup included acts such as from20 & HELLO GLOOM, KEYVITUP, ONE PACT, RESCENE, So!YoON!, MODYSSEY, NEXZ, and KO1KEYZ.

Its placement within the convention was particularly effective. Rather than requiring fans to purchase a separate concert experience to discover a newer artist, the stage allowed attendees to stumble upon performances while walking through the Festival Grounds.

Dancing the Night Away

KCON’s dance programming also returned with the DANCE STAGE by Sanrio, giving fans an opportunity to participate rather than simply watch.

The stage incorporated dance performances, choreography, and fan participation, continuing one of KCON’s most recognizable traditions: turning the audience itself into part of the entertainment.

Acts including H//PE Princess, cosmosy, MODYSSEY and RESCENE appeared as part of the dance programming, while fans throughout the convention could be seen participating in dance challenges and showcasing their own choreography.

K-Pop: Not the Only Piece, but Still a Key Feature

After a full day at the convention, fans made their way to Crypto.com Arena for the M COUNTDOWN concerts.

Friday night’s lineup featured NCT 127 as the headliner, alongside KickFlip, SANTOS BRAVOS, TREASURE and &TEAM. The supporting lineup also included performances from the Toyota Music Den Stage artists from20 & HELLO GLOOM, KEYVITUP and ONE PACT.

Saturday brought another packed day to the Convention Center before ZEROBASEONE took over as the night’s headliner.

The M COUNTDOWN lineup included ZEROBASEONE, ILLIT, izna, P1Harmony, TAEYONG and YEONJUN, along with from20 & HELLO GLOOM, KEYVITUP and RESCENE.

Sunday’s lineup featured TOMORROW X TOGETHER, ALLDAY PROJECT, ALPHA DRIVE ONE, JO1, MEOVV, ONE PACT, RESCENE and So!YoON!, with additional special programming throughout the day.

Three nights of concerts established one of the most noticeable changes to this year’s KCON: longer performances. Rather than limiting the evening to a succession of short festival appearances, the expanded format gave headline artists more time to develop their sets and connect with the audience. CJ ENM had specifically announced the introduction of extended one-hour performances for M COUNTDOWN.

KCON LA 2026: An Ode to “All Things Hallyu”

A fan could begin their morning analyzing their skin with a K-Beauty Genius at OLIVE YOUNG FESTA, grab Korean food, discover an emerging group at the Toyota Music Den Stage, participate in a dance challenge, visit a K-drama activation, meet an artist, watch a fan-selected performer take the stage, and then end the evening watching NCT 127, ZEROBASEONE, or TXT perform in an arena.

Since launching its Los Angeles event in 2012, KCON has positioned itself as a meeting point between artists and fans, but the 2026 edition made that idea feel broader than ever. The Festival Grounds transformed Korean culture into something interactive, while the concerts provided the spectacular finale each night.

Some came for their favorite group. Others came for the beauty brands, food, or Korean entertainment. Some spent hours waiting for an artist engagement, while others discovered a new favorite performer by simply wandering past a stage. That in itself is the real magic of KCON: you can arrive knowing exactly what you want to see and still leave having discovered something you never expected.
