Review: Kid Laroi “GIRLS”

Written by: Erica Remboske

On June 28, 2024, The Kid LAROI released a new single titled "GIRLS," marking his first release since his album "THE FIRST TIME" in November 2023. Recently, he and Tate McRae publicly confirmed their relationship, and this new track reflects the joy and freedom LAROI experiences with McRae. The song is a catchy pop-hip hop piece with relatable lyrics that many girls will connect with.

LAROI sings about the fun and liberation that come with a healthy relationship. The song also addresses the issues many girls face after breakups, such as trust issues, anxiety, and depression, aiming to raise awareness about how girls should feel free and have fun after leaving toxic relationships.

The music video features Alix Earle, a 23-year-old influencer with over 10 million followers on Instagram and TikTok. Earle, known for her "Get Ready With Me" videos, plays LAROI's love interest and is seen hanging out with her friends. The unexpected pairing of LAROI and Earle surprised many fans, with one TikTok user, ashleybaumgard, commented, "The duo I didn’t know I needed” on his video.

The Kid LAROI, whose real name is Charlton Kenneth Jeffery Howard, is a 20-year-old singer and rapper from Australia. He quickly gained fame from his music, especially after the 2021 release of "Stay," featuring Justin Bieber.
